This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As a teacher in a low-income school district, my students are faced with challenges that no 7- or 8-year-old should face. Despite the lack of structure at home, I want to make coming to school enjoyable for my students. They are so eager to learn and be successful, but most students do not come to school with the necessary tools to help encourage that eagerness. Many of them are being raised by a single parent, aunt or uncle, or a grandparent. Every student at my school receives free breakfast and free lunch. Some students come to school when they are sick just to be fed that day.
I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I control what happens in my classroom.
I want these students to feel loved and appreciated every single day when they walk into my classroom. By doing this, I am hopeful I inspire these learners to continue on a path of excellence.
My Project
I am asking for a cricut to help make our bulletin boards and classroom more exciting. With all this extra time with us at home, I have become very inspired to change up my classroom and do more room transformations.
With this machine I will be able to make my room more magical for my students.
The mats will help me get started with these creative progects by using them to put vinyl and/or cardstock. I will be able to get creative from my laptop to send to the cricut to make magical things for our classroom!
