This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in a low socioeconomic Hispanic community on the west side of Miami. Most of our students are on free and reduced-price lunch. Many children come from homes where English is not their first language.

I have a lovely, energetic group of 24 5th grade students, many of which have learning disabilities, yet are inquisitive and eager to learn and grow.

In our classroom we celebrate diversity. All of the children are valued and their individual needs are met through differentiated instruction.

My Project

I have a very diverse group of students, all of whom learn information differently. One thing I’ve noticed that really catches and holds their attention is colorful, creative things such as bulletin decor, posters, incentive cut outs, and more. These decorations and classroom items also tend to help motivate my students. Having a Cricut cutter would allow me to embellish our classroom and not only catch my students’ attention, but also keep them motivated and excited to be in our classroom. Some projects would include vinyl lettering for the whiteboard, letter and shape cutouts​ for differentiated instruction groups, and bulletin board decor.
