Help me give my students a way to create and customize school apparel and items that can be used as incentives for PBIS and/or sold to outside stakeholders to fund school activities.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
These cricut machines, mug presses, and starter materials will allow our students to create customized school designs on shirts, sweatshirts, mugs, and other gifts and souvneiors in order to provide as a reward for our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program, incentivize good behavior in school, and encourage school spirit. The products may also be sold to outside stakeholders in order to help fund any school-related activities such as field trips, prom, ceremonies, etc. Additionally, as a mental health clinician, I would like to use this project to support the mental health of our students. There are times of the month that our school takes a mini break from the academic learning environment to focus on the development of life skills and social and emotional wellness for students (and staff). These materials can be used during that time to facilitate engagement in social and emotional development, as well as fun. Students will plan, design, and create custom objects using the Cricut Maker in a variety of different styles inspired by the montlhy school theme or a national mental health month awareness campaign. They would be able to decorate, organize, and label classrooms, bulletin boards and the school hallways using their Cricut designs. Engaging in arts and crafts can often times be a healthy coping skill that people turn to during difficult times. Having the opportunity to be creative and have that art work put on display will hopefully be the healthy alternative our students need. Our students will likely take a vested interest in this as they will be able to put their own touches on the products.
