AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is an exceptional program that begins in middle school and is designed to help students accomplish their dream of successfully attending a four-year college or university. AVID provides students with the skills they need to be successful in middle school and high school and the tools, guidance and courses necessary for college acceptance.
Over the years, AVID seniors from the district's high schools have achieved an amazing 98% four-year college acceptance rate which far exceeds the national college acceptance rate of 36%.
The AVID program gives day-to-day mentoring help, creates a vision of college as attainable, and provides guidance in how to negotiate the college preparatory system. AVID places students with a strong group of peers and adults who share a commitment to academic achievement.
Ultimately, AVID provides structure and a sense of family to support students as they take on the academic challenges necessary to achieve their goal of acceptance to a four-year college or university. With your help, we can support our diverse students who prepare for college, career, and civic life in the 21st century.
My students are encouraged to learn and apply skills that will prepare them for college, career, and civic life in the 21st century. They are dedicated to their community and determined to build an inclusive culture on campus where every student is invited to demonstrate their creativity.
The Cricut is not your average crafting machine, is a modern tool that can bring designs to life, incorporating cardboard, paper, wall and window vinyl cling, along with hundreds of other materials.
As part of inquiry and project based learning, students are encouraged to design a variety of products, from textiles to paper, using the Cricut. This device engages and empowers students to collaborate, think critically, and create.
