Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My student are individuals who come from diverse backgrounds and attend a Title I school. They are talented, although many do not realize it yet; because for some high school is their first exposure to an art class that uses a variety of media.
My students are aspiring young artists who are looking for ways to explore their creative freedom in class.
Many of my students haven’t been exposed to a rigorous art classroom, but year after year they come back for more art. It might be by choice or it might be due to counselor placement, but regardless they come to class ready to explore new topics and art making techniques.
My Project
I want to give my students opportunities in all art areas. By merging the gap of art and design. This Cricut Air would be a mobile studio for students to be able to be at school events and functions. The Cricut machine will allow students to print and cut designs on location. The heat press is small and portable that students could transfer small designs onto material, without having to use a larger heat press. The bag will help with the ease of transporting the machine from location to location. The extra cutting mats, blades, and tools will be set aside for backups when needed.
This portable studio would allow my students to be apart of school events producing products on the spot.
By having products at each event, we hope it will help promote school spirit. By having an on the spot studio, clubs and organizations on campus that host events will no longer have to put requests in months in advance for merchandise from a vendor. This will help raise money and promote other clubs on campus. Plus it would allow community members, parents, etc. to purchase school spirited items at a cheaper price than going through an outside vendor. What better way to support a school than buying what the students produce! Not to mention what an awesome teaching experience will this be for my students!
