Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend school in a low income community where school is the continuity that builds lifelong learning skills and problem solving strategies that can be applied in future endeavors. With the inclusion aspect of the public school setting, sometimes finding that one thing that all ability levels can reach success with is a challenge.
With COVID-19 students are back in the classroom and needing those hands-on experiences with culinary/kitchen skills to adequately prepare them for their professional interest in a competitive job market.
The pantry is bare of materials that are vitally needed for large classroom enrollment.
My Project
Students have been eagerly enrolling in the culinary arts program with an interest in developing their skills for workplace readiness in a community that is rebounding with the food industry. As an overflow classroom, with a demanding interest in learning not just how to cook for the home students are interested in developing skills with knife cuts and other culinary skills to help develop their food presentation skills with the meals that can be prepared in a changing environment. We have convection ovens ready for the sweet and savory recipies we've been developing. Now, help me take my students to the next level with cooking and taste testing their culinary skills with trials in plating appetizers, soups, muffins and so much more.
