Creativity Unleashed (by Chromebooks)
My students need a modern medium with which to express their ideas. They need a classroom equipped with technology to empower them to speak their truths. They need Chromebooks to write, research and aspire for more.
My students are survivors. They live in a community riddled with violence, police abuse, poverty and strife. They come to school everyday, eager to learn, eager to do better and committed to improving their position in life - all of this because of and despite the loss they have endured and the conflicts they have survived.
My students come from a diverse range of cultural, linguistic and ethnic communities, and sometimes their differences drive them apart.
More often, they bring them together. Students lean on each other to overcome the loss of friends and family members to violence or incarceration. They learn from each other about other cultures and ideas. They look to the future for hope.
Every Marking Period, my students create stories and conduct research to speak truth to their experiences and express their inner most musings, appeal to their curiosities and develop their ideas.
There are not enough Chromebook carts on our campus for every student to have access to a Chromebook or computer when they need one.
I never want to have to tell my students that they can't work on their stories because of logistics. I want my classroom to be a place where students learn and thrive and feel confident in their ability to succeed because the resources they need are always there.
DonorsChoose makes it easy for anyone to help a classroom in need. Public school teachers from every corner of America create classroom project requests, and you can give any amount to the project that inspires you.
