Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at my school are very special. Each day you never know who or what you are going to get from them. Our students come from a very low socioeconomic area where they struggle with simple supplies such as a book bag, pencil, paper, and pens. A lot of it stems from the home and their acceptance of their situation. It is essential for them to have structure so that they can improve their critical thinking and learning skills.
Our students struggle with reading and writing.
It's hard for them to make inferences, and they often refer to the textbook for answers instead of regurgitating knowledge they have learned or reviewed. I want to create a learning environment where each student takes purpose in their learning.
My Project
My students need resources, pencils, pens, & folders necessary for keeping them focused, organized, and accountable for their learning. The students at my school need support with simple school supplies and tools necessary for frequent learning. They each require individualized folders to keep their work arranged, and they also require pens or pencils to assist them with clarifying their thoughts to words appropriately daily.
The use of classification file folders will go to exceptional education students who struggle with organizing their information.
The use of manila folders will go to organizing our students in what I call a monthly agenda sheet stapled onto the folder. Students will use color folders as a means to bring work home and organize in their home. The copying paper will be used to make duplicates for each sheet which will change month to month in view of the dates. The copying and construction paper will also be used to create month to month foldables on specific projects to help students with finding creative ways to improve their learning.
The laminator will be used to laminate sheets and keep work in pristine condition, especially handmade hall passes which can help our students stay organized and efficient with time.
Our students will also use manipulatives or foldables during our review periods to assist them with being creative with their learning and projects. Your generous donation to our mission will develop our eleventh grade class by supporting their continued advancement and understanding of responsibility for arranging their assignments and tasks daily. They will have a new found excitement for instruction and feel good about their ability to be creative at this level as well as the next.
