Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking, self-driven and passionate kids.
They love to show off what they are learning through art and projects.
We really focus on project-based learning and connecting math to the real world. There's no more "why do I need to learn this, when am I ever going to need to know this?"
They can go out into the world and see math where ever they go.
My art students are so passionate and creative. I love to fill my classroom with their art to show it off.
They are at all levels but they push each other to be better, better mathematicians, better artists, and better people.
My Project
With these are materials, my students will be able to dive deeper into what 3D Art really is. I want to emphasize to them the difference between sculptures and crafts. When money creates a restriction on what students can do in art class, it creates an environment where students begin to think that their work doesn't matter. These materials will help them become sculptures and artist by diving deeper into their creativity. It will show that that art isn't always easy and it's not about who gets done first. It's about the heart, the creativity and the effort that is put into something.
The pulp board will be used to make some really cool hollow sculptures.
We will wrap the pulpboard around a balloon once we get it wet and it will keep the shape. We can even put a non-flammable light inside and use them as lanterns. The fake glass is flexible when heated. We will heat them and let them harden to create a faux-glass bowl. These projects take special paint that I'm asking for as well.
I want them to take pride in their work to create something they will want to take home and show off. I hope that I can challenge them with art projects. I want to show them that art isn't always easy, it takes hard work.
