This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are filled with excitement to create! Art class is a time for expression and growth, an opportunity to share perspectives in a visual way. It's been a long time since my students have had art as a class on their schedule and their ideas are overflowing!
My students need a restock of basic supplies to help them with their creativity and craftsmanship.
While we already have watercolor palettes ready to go, the artists need watercolor paper that will hold the masterpiece paintings. Unfortunately, the paper we have now is too thin and easily tears because it cannot hold the water.
With these materials we will be making creative drawing projects so that students can get lost in their own work. These imaginative lessons will be inspired by Look & Find Books from all different perspectives (bird's eye view, from below, through a bubble, etc). When we paint, we often sketch out our ideas as a plan first. We are asking for fine point sharpies so that our lines can be bold even once the watercolor is layered on top. We don't want all the amazing details to go unnoticed!
