Prepare, Present, and Reflect I am a 6th grade reading and writing teacher at a diverse elementary school in southeastern Arizona. I see a total of 106 students everyday. Students need to be engaged in reading and writing in a variety of ways. By incorporating technology for their Biography Projects students will gain real world skills as well as reinforcing reading and writing.

World History as well as Expository Reading and Writing are sixth grade standards in Arizona. Students read a biography to create a presentation as if they were the person they read about.

By using the flip video camera for biography project presentations (where the students dress up as the person they read about) the students can watch and evaluate their own performances. This will give them a chance to reflect on their work, and make further improvements (e.g. clearing up content, correcting grammar, keeping fingers out of the shot, using more accents/expression in their dialog). Using the video camera will also help the students master state technology standards as well as the social studies, reading, and writing requirements.
