My classroom consists of all students in the school building, because I am the school librarian. Students in grades 3 through 5 are very eager to please and learn in their school environment. I have found that they love to read! My goal is to help their love of reading by establishing a classroom set of books selection in the library. Their teacher will be able to further their knowledge of reading skills in the classroom with this classroom set of books.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds in a small rural school in Tennessee where many families have low incomes.
Each morning, you will see the students' smiling faces as they greet the faculty and staff as they enter the building and start their day. The students' willingness to learn makes each day great!
My Project
My students would loved to have Legos so that they can build, create, and expand their imagination. We have recently started centers in the library and this would be an amazing surprise for them to have the chance to work with Legos in the library. The Learning Palettes are something that is a quick, easy, and fun center for students to reinforce skills needed like: the alphabet, upper and lower case letters, nouns, verbs, and rhyming words.
Literacy centers are a way for students to interact with their peers and having the access to Legos and Learning Palettes will help my students boost their knowledge while learning independently.
These items will be a great addition to our library literacy centers that students will look forward to going to each and every week.
