Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year teacher, teaching kindergarten to 25 of the sweetest, artistic, loving and smart 5-6 year old kids. They love coming to school and are always eager to learn new things. Each day, I strive to do my best to help my students learn with the school supplies and tools that we have. I do my best to make my classroom a positive and nurturing environment for them everyday.
All of my students receive free breakfast and lunch.
Most of my students are English Language Learners.
Many of my students live in multi-generational homes and their parents work 2-3 jobs just to make ends meet.
My Project
I would like for my students to explore the world STEM. To do so, my class needs resources and manipulatives to allow them to explore engineering with a hands-on approach.
My students can learn while they are playing, collaborating and constructing.
The Magna-Tiles, Bristle Builders, Playstix, Interlocking Plastic Discs and building sets will allow my students to create, explore and build structures. My students will be able to work independently, with a partner or in a group. This will allow for my students to have meaningful ways of communication.
The possibilities are endless. Please help my kindergartners have access to concrete materials that can enable them to learn while they play.
