My students need the brain model to understand how their brain works. My students also need the art tools to be able to integrate the arts into the curriculum.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I service about 90 Gifted and Talented students at our school. My students are unique in that their abilities are significantly above the norm for their age. They are highly intelligent, artistic, creative, and inquisitive. They love coming to class knowing that they will be challenged in different ways. They thrive in an environment where they can research, analyze, debate, and innovate.
It is common for gifted students to demonstrate greater maturity in some areas over other students.
Because of this, there is a greater risk of developing social-emotional difficulties; such as, anxiety, perfectionism, stress, and issues with peer relationships and identity concerns. Gifted students can find it difficult to fit in with other students of the same age. The GATE classroom offers an environment that is safe for these students to be themselves.
My Project
The brain model will be used to show the different parts of the brain. My gifted students love learning about how their brain works. I do a unit on what it means to be gifted and connect it to our brains. The students will use the model as a center activity where they will be guessing each part of the brain.
The art tools are used to enhance critical thinking skills through creativity.
The paint pens are lovely to use and there is no mess to clean up. My students love integrating the arts into their learning as it is another way for them to be creative and think of innovative solutions.
