My students need the WORX cutting tool, LAUNCH Rocket Science kit, the Klutz LEGO Chain Reactions Craft Kit, the AA, AAA and CR2032 batteries to keep our school's makerspace stocked with useful materials and books.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a high poverty school district, I see my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Gangs roam the neighborhood recruiting them at a very young age. Despite the challenges they have many students are eager to be the exception and strive for excellence. I aim to provide my students with meaningful yet creative learning experiences. Our school's motto is to prepare leaders in mind, body, and character for success in college, career, and a life of service within the global community through an education that values honor, courage, and commitment.
My Project
When I attended my first Maker Faire, I was blown away and immediately knew that I wanted to build my own makerspace at my school. All the activities in the Maker Faire were creative, exciting, and so much fun, and I learned a lot. I want to pass that experience to my students. By obtaining the Rocket Kit, Lego Kit, science experiment kit, batteries and all the books I chose, we will have a good amount of material to use for making and tinkering. My students will learn so much with these STEM projects and enhance their mathematics, science and engineering skills.
Makerspaces are spaces where people can gather to create, invent, and learn.
They will create projects such as rockets and paper circuits with the LEDs and CR2032 batteries, copper tape. They will build with Legos. These materials will allow my students the opportunity to use their imagination and creativity while supporting STEM activities by designing, constructing, and putting chemistry and physics into play.
