Help me give my students a more enjoyable way of learning by creating a comfortable and creative environment using portable laptop tables, soft lighting, and a great amount of hands on creative materials as they demonstrate their talents.
My students are gifted students in the third, fourth and fifth grades. They are energetic and very willing to learn new and challenging topics. Creative problem solving and teamwork allow my students to brainstorm, explore and share ideas that they may not have been able to do in the regular education classroom. They have the unusual capacity for processing information in different ways.
My classroom is a safe environment where failure is accepted, and not a negative, as students learn the surprising depth of their thinking.
My students have a high curiosity level and demonstrate endless questions and inquiries. We explore social and emotional issues that are often different for the gifted student.
My Project
In our GT classroom, we learn that all students think creatively and problem solve differently and we accept and support those differences in our room. In our room, we will share ideas that may be looked upon as "too far out there" or ideas that are met with "we can't do that or we don't have the time to delve into that idea". A comfortable setting is vital to bring out the abstract and creative thinking in our GT class. The students will be creating displays and creations using higher level of thinking skills after researching a topic of their choice. These will then be shared with our parents during a spring Open House.
