My Students

My creative writing students live in a rural agricultural community. We are a close knit group with a lot heart but not a lot of resources. Many of my students' families do not have a monthly budget that allows for extra school supplies.

My Project

Students will gain personal insight, gather memories, and practice writing skills as they collaborate in writing workshops and create their autobiographies. With hard backed binders with clear vinyl covers, the students will have an opportunity to "bind" their books and create covers, so that these books will be permanent and valuable.

Having access to colored papers and decorative stickers will give my class the chance to practice decorative art skills and hands-on design.

Students can continue adding to their books at home and even after the creative writing course has ended.
