Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is a small country school located within the city limits. On a typical day at our school, you will see students participating not just in math and language arts, but also in units of in-depth study for our International Baccalaureate Program. These units focus heavily on science and history and are often incorporated into our math and language arts curriculum.
Our students are masters of inquiry.
Through the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP), students learn how to question their surroundings and what they are learning both in and out of the classroom. Our students experience inquiry on a daily basis.
My Project
When I switched from desks to tables in my classroom for flexible seating, I had to take what was available to me. The tables I was able to get are old and janky. They make a ton of noise when students make even the slightest of movement. The squeak the tables make interrupts many of my students when they are working.
These new tables will eliminate unpleasant noise and provide a surface my students can write on for collaboration.
The whiteboard surface on these requested tables will allow my students to map out their ideas during collaborative group work. My students enjoy writing on individual whiteboards, so I know they will love writing on these tables!
