My students love to learn, but often find conventional seating to not be optimal for them. Standing for a little while seems to keep many students engaged in learning. I love to give them alternative ways to learn. They will occasionally come to me with new ideas that they would love to see in the classroom. This is an awesome opportunity for the students to take ownership of the classroom and the environment. I enjoy watching the class become their class instead of mine.
Students tend to be more engaged and learn best when they feel comfortable and relaxed. This type of seating arrangement affords a better opportunity to be comfortable and engaged.
Conventional seating can seem clinical and uninviting to students.
With this project, my students will be given the opportunity to feel more relaxed in an environment that feels more like home to them. They will look forward to finding a seating arrangement that best fits their individual learning needs. All students are not made the same and with this project, we are showing them that we acknowledge their differences and are adjusting the class to fit their needs.
