My students need new STEM materials to help with our creative start in the mornings. We are looking for magnetic Magna-Tiles sets for building, building engineering kits, snap circuits, gravity mazes, brain flakes, and Zoob sets.
My students are an energetic and inquisitive group of first graders. My 6 and 7 year old students are very eager to learn new things and have new experiences beyond what they all ready know.
I strive to provide my students with as many opportunities to learn through hands on experiences that allow my students to explore the world around them.
It's the "messy" learning and unplanned moments that truly make the connections, and through this, I hope to make life long learners.
My Project
Starting the day with these resources allows students to choose something creative they want to do as the classroom day starts. This allows students to start the classroom day creatively. With materials such as Magna Tiles, Brain Flakes, Zoob Builidng sets, Gravity Maizes, students are able to build, explore and engineer a variety of things using their imagination. Our creative start also includes art, reading, and writing materials that we already have in our classroom.
I have found that students that start the day creatively are then more invested in what needs to be accomplished the rest of the day.
