Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
This is my 22nd year teaching in an urban school, but my first year in preschool. We have a very diverse population with families from more than 30 countries. Our diversity is our greatest strength!
Early childhood education is essential to closing the gap for urban students. Now that our district offers free education for three- and four-year-olds, we are able to prepare students for kindergarten. I truly believe early childhood education is the first intervention we can offer our families.
My Project
Our current paint situation is BLEAK!! All of our paint was inherited from a retired teacher. The paint is very old and most of it is lumpy or dried out. With new paint, our students will be able to unleash their creative side.
The 1 gallon jug will give us plenty of paint to create MANY masterpieces!! We have selected all the colors offered to give our students choice and variety when creating. Our students LOVE the painting and art center. We use the dabbers creatively, forming letters and for some of the games we play. We can't wait to start creating!!
