Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine a group of kids who have often been looked down upon by others because they have a language barrier or a learning disability. They have been through more in 12 years than most of us will experience in a lifetime. Yet, they enter my classroom every day with a smile on their face and bright, wide-open eyes. Learning has become a priority for them.
They often challenge each other's thinking and inspire me to be a better teacher every day.
I want to create a space where my students can forget about all of the unfortunate circumstances they have been through and become the best versions of themselves. This is just the start.
My Project
Our goal in my classroom is to encourage creative thinking and allow the students to create their own problem-solving skills. I was recently given the space to create an innovative space where my students can optimize their learning and reach a new level of engagement. Research has proven that students of all ages learn in various ways. They learn best when they are given the independence to choose how, when and where they will learn. I am requesting three markerboard tables! This will not only allow independence of how they will learn, but also give my students the opportunity to share ideas and write out their thinking right there on their desk! Any help you can give us is greatly appreciated!
