Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a title one school where the majority of our students qualify for free/or reduced lunches. Many of my students are from broken homes and live with a single parent. Despite their home life my students come to school eager to learn. My students are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! I teach two sections of Math and two sections of Science. I share my 40 students with one other teacher. They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Their love for learning makes my job both exciting and fulfilling. They keep me on my toes.
In my class, I strive to motivate and keep my students challenged!
Together we set goals that will guide them to reach their full potential. We have worked hard to build a safe and loving school family. From my Special Ed students, to my GT students I believe they all should have every opportunity I can give to learn and be successful.
My Project
My students love coming into my classroom and finding different items I have found to supplement their learning experience. When using our journals they tend to get very worn out, having good (decorative) tape to fix the wear and tear, excites the students. The large sticky note pads will be used as anchor charts and cooperative group activities, which allows the students to recall easily when needing a quick reference.
I have yet to find a wooden pencil that doesn't break unlike the Paper-mate with thick lead, my students have envied the few I have at my desk and will be ecstatic to have their own!!
The document camera will allow us to record lessons for the students to review independently if absent or as needed for reteach, which allows me as a teacher more small group teaching if they still do not understand.
