I teach Kindergarten in Mississippi. Our school consists of students from a variety of economic and ethnic backgrounds that come together every day to learn and grow, with majority of the students at my school participating in a free lunch plan.
In my classroom, all of my students are eager to learn and excited to show their peers and teachers their achievements.
Being a Kindergarten teacher, all of my students come in at a wide range of ability levels. These different ability levels require various teaching materials, methods, and multiple picture displays and manipulatives to ensure understanding.
My Project
In my classroom, the blocks center is a very popular and important center. The students in my classroom can learn several skills while playing with other students in the blocks area.
In the blocks area, students can learn to share and play cooperatively with others by gaining social and emotional skills and perseverance to not give up on their task at hand.
The star shape blocks will enhance students thinking as they create their own masterpieces and construct models from their imagination. The toy zoo and farm animals will link our units and themes of study into what they are building in the blocks area. They will play with the toy animals and reinforce what they have learned about the animals.
Besides building with blocks, students can use letter blocks to create three letter words to help them blend sounds to make words and begin to read. Using these letters blocks in a play center will make reading more fun and interesting as they challange their peers with real and non-sense words.
The buckets will help my students to sort and organize their learning materials in the classroom to keep things together and organized.
