This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are wonderfully energetic, curious, and awesome kids who come from high poverty homes. We are a Title I school where 100% of our students receive free lunch. My students are eager learners! I have built a strong classroom community even without having any books or supplies! I have spent hundreds of dollars of my own money to give them the supplies they need such as high-interest books, pencils, paper, notebooks, markers, and copy paper to copy work from the ONE book that I was allotted for my classroom this year!
My school has a very limited budget, and we literally received very little for our classes.
I would love to have more materials available for student use as we need more materials to accommodate our classroom of 30 students!
My Project
Our class will use the colored paper and copy paper for important family notices and to publish our third grader writers' books, as well as for creating the anchor charts we use to support student learning in all academic areas. The construction paper will be used for a variety of art projects so crucial to child development.
Schools need paper, we need paper!
Paper seems to be such a basic school supply. Yet with budgets cuts to our schools, the most basic of supplies are like gold in our classrooms. We look to you for support in carrying out our high expectations and quality instruction. Thank you for your generosity.
