This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My hardworking students come from low-income households in Fort Worth, Texas. While my students face much adversity in their daily lives, school is their safe haven. However, COVID-19 has changed the lives of my students because they are having to be even more adaptable than ever before.

My students are eager to learn, and it is so rewarding to see how much they grow during the year.

While I am not sure exactly how this school year will begin, I do expect them to make it to the classroom at some point this year.

Our students are extremely bright, talented, and awesome young people who deserve educational opportunities that will help to enrich their life. Ultimately, we are helping them see their true potential and reach beyond the stars.

My Project

We will use the manipulatives in class to strengthen the skills needed to be successful. Hands-on manipulatives will give students concrete models to work with as students work collaboratively. Students who struggle need concrete products to work with to gain a conceptual understanding. By using these manipulatives, I believe they can also support student engagement and differentiation.

This will allow students to make the necessary connections.

The manipulatives will be a visual for students so I can model for them.

By having multiple materials in class, students experience different methods of learning. Donating to this project will give students who struggle the visuals and hands-on materials to work with.
