My students need a group rug for morning meeting as well as group discussions. They are also in need of pencils, paint, glue and construction paper in order to foster their creativity and fine motor skills.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from a community that at times is deemed as "unsafe", but to me my students are worth a fighting chance. They deserve the opportunity to succeed just as much as students that come from suburban communities.
My students come in on a daily basis and say, "Good morning Mrs. Jacqui", with a smile and give me and my co-teacher a hug.
Some even come in and say how pretty I look, regardless if my hair is not quite right.
My students are eager to learn and they also love to share what they have learned as the days go by. They get very excited when they get praised for identifying a sight word, a letter sound, or for just zipping up their own coat. It is so rewarding to see when their eyes light up when they are able to grasp the concept of a certain activity or lesson we are trying to teach them.
I personally believe that when we take the time to pour into these little minds and show them love as well as encourage them to succeed children can and will learn and retain what is being taught.
My Project
The area rug is where my students spend most of their time engaged in conversation about letters, numbers, sight words, and stories. This is also were they share ideas as well as what they have learned with their classmates. This is also where we express our gross motor movements when we are not able to go outside to the playground. The students love to show off their moves as we engage in music and movement.
The construction paper, glue, paint and pencils are what our students use to develop their fine motor skills as well as express their creativity.
The students use their imagination as they create and it is interesting to see the things they come up with. Some of our students also like to write some words that help describe what they drew. Creativity and imagination go a long way with these little ones.
