This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Working with students with disabilities is a struggle sometimes. My students almost all come from broken homes and are in the low socioeconomic group. Many of my students only receive food when they are at school. They have been "pushed" through the system and somehow got to high school, when they can only perform at an elementary level. Many of my students read below a fifth grade level and barely know basic math facts like adding and subtracting. They all have IEPs, which adds another dimension of hardships for them.
My students all have the capability of doing whatever they want to in life, but haven't always been told they can by previous teachers.
This is what makes my school so important. We are their last chance. We are the ones that push them to be their best selves. For some, we are their family!
My Project
NearPod is a great classroom resource! It allows you to create interactive lessons for your students using an array of different tools such as polls, draw it, quizzes, and open ended questions. There are so many unique features of NearPod that make it the ultimate teaching resource.
I have used Nearpod in my classroom the past two years and my students have absolutely loved the fun, creative, interactive way I have been able to teach new material through NearPod.
There are endless ways to utilize NearPod in the classroom; I can use it for teaching a lesson, giving a quiz, independent work, homework, or even as a supplement to my lesson.
