My students are enthusiastic and passionate about art. I work with a diverse group of children from many ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. Many of my students receive free and reduced lunch. Our families that struggle financially face obstacles in providing their children with enriching artistic experiences.
"Every child is an artist." -Picasso
Students learn best when we can provide a diverse range of materials and tools to aid in their learning. Art is about exploring ideas and accessing tools that we can utilize to bring our ideas to life. With your help, these supplies will support my students in furthering their understanding and appreciation for art.
My Project
In order to build a creative foundation in art, we must explore a variety of techniques and mediums, including ceramics. At our school we have many 2d-related art materials such as paint and paper, however, we do not have the facility or resources for a kiln.
"Life is like Clay, it is up to you to mold it into any form you desire."
I would like to provide students with a chance to create a 3d work of art where students can get a hands-on lesson in manipulating forms and shape in air-dry clay. The model magic will be suitable for my kindergarten students, while grades 1-3 will be able to experience the air dry clay. Students will have a chance to create textures and or carve designs into the clay.
Thank you for helping our students experience a creative foundation.
