I would like to implement creative dance movement in the classroom. I believe that children learn best through play, hands-on experience, interaction with peers and adults, and have fun in what they are doing. I would require a digital camera to capture children's movement and expressions, a CD radio to play music, and CDs for children to listen and learn the different styles of music and/of different cultures. Without these simple items, I will not be able to teach children effectively in creative dance movement. Dance movement benefits children in many ways. Dance integrates the cognitive, motor, social, and emotional development of individual children. Children simultaneously move, think, and feel. They learn about themselves and how they relate to others and the world as moving, thinking, feeling human beings. I am working with 28 first/second graders at Commodore Stockton Child Development Center. These children are from low-income families and they live in the heart of Chinatown. They are lack to space to move in their apartments, so I want to support their developments in school where there are more space to move freely and expressively. Thank you in advance.
