As the art teacher at my school, I see 21 classes of 4th and 5th grade students that are ready to learn and can't wait to get their hands on the supplies that we are using for the week. Our school is unique in that fact that we only have grades 4 and 5. I see all 450 students in my classroom on a weekly basis. The students come from a variety of backgrounds, and we also serve a large population of military children.
I want my students to enjoy drawing, coloring, painting, and creating when they come to my classroom.
Our ultimate goal at Curtis Elementary is to maximize the potential of each individual student towards higher achievement.
My Project
Art can help students develop on many fundamental levels and having enough supplies for our large school of 4th and 5th grade students is crucial. We need more art supplies to help show the creative side of each of the students in our school. While attending art class each week, students learn important characteristics that they will need during regular classroom instruction. I want my students to gain confidence and persevere in doing things such as drawing, coloring, and painting. With these materials, I will be able to insure my students get the most out of the art program at my elementary school.
