My students are energetic and lively, challenged and challenging, and full of potential. I have 23 students in my class from a variety of backgrounds and with a large range of ability and motivation levels. Our school is in a hard-working, yet high poverty area. Most of my students are very active in sports and other activities, but several of them have very few experiences outside of school. They need a place to belong and need to build a sense of ownership. We work hard to build a family atmosphere where everyone feels safe, secure, and valued.
My students are eager to learn and happy to participate, especially when I can create an excitement about what we are doing.
They are so creative and love hands-on learning. They enjoy engaging activities and love being helpers. Most of my students show a great deal of appreciation for the opportunities and materials they receive at school.
My Project
Crafting and creating bring so much joy to my students! Having a clean work area to neatly organize and store materials will make crafting much more manageable, as we will not waste valuable time searching for our materials.
Creative art activities enhance learning and promote physical, social, cognitive, and emotional development, and for many students, art can unlock to door to learning.
We can incorporate art into every area of our curriculum. As we move towards incorporating more STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) activities into our classroom, having readily available supplies will greatly increase our productivity. We will also use our art supplies to help us create puppets, scenes, and other props to assist us in brining stories to life.
Having simple crafting materials in a neat organized shelf will help up to promote engagement and learning.
