My school is tucked away within the center of a small, neighborhood community. Although there is a close "family feel" and many others who are eager to help as needed, purchasing 21st century teaching materials can add up in cost.
It is my philosophy to view each student as a child first while gaining mutual respect, understanding, and trust towards one another.
It is only once those core values are developed that true teaching can take place. With access to proper materials and resources, my students will go the distance to achieve their full potential.
My home-base classroom is comprised of 18 students who are eager to learn, grow, and explore. I work with these students to build upon their own personal development while providing content area instruction in reading and social studies. As my school departmentalizes subjects, I have the privilege of delivering writing instruction to EVERY student within my grade!
My students come to school each day eager to express their curiosity. As a classroom community, we have decided to set up a creative corner where students can demonstrate their creative thinking and experiment with the way things work. The corner will be open to those who have completed assignments and are in need of a challenge, as well as during indoor recess days. Recently, they have utilized a set of gently used Magna-Tiles and beginner STEM kits.
I would love to offer more resources, such as this K'Nex kit, Laser puzzle, and coding robot; I can already picture my students' faces lighting up as they successfully accomplish a challenge or obstacle.
