Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our middle school library is more than just a place for books—it’s a space where students can explore, create, and connect. With a large population of Hispanic and Latino students, many of whom are English learners, providing opportunities for self-expression and creativity is essential. That’s where arts and crafts come in!

Our students are hardworking, resilient, and full of potential.

Many come from migrant families, balancing responsibilities at home while working hard in school. They deserve a space to relax, be creative, and make friendships!

In middle school, students must explore who they are and find ways to express themselves. Arts and crafts give them a chance to do just that. Whether designing a bookmark inspired by a favorite book, creating decorations for a cultural celebration, or just letting their imaginations run wild, having these supplies available makes a huge difference. Projects like these not only help students develop creative thinking and problem-solving skills but also give them a much-needed break from the stress of schoolwork.

The library is the perfect place for this kind of creative outlet. We can turn it into a hub of inspiration and hands-on learning by adding arts and crafts supplies like pressed flowers for candle jars, bookmarks, and glue for stress relief tools. These materials will help students connect with their culture, express their ideas, and build confidence.
