My school is in Las Vegas, Nevada and serves pre-kindergarten through fifth grade. Our students are given rigorous academics to prepare them for the future. Our school is blessed with amazing educators and a safe learning environment for all students at our campus. My fourth grade classroom has a wonderful atmosphere where all students can develop in knowledge, kindness and responsibility. My fourth graders need Chromebooks to enhance their learning, share what they learn and to collaborate with their peers. I need to teach my students life skills through technology. We live in a digital world but our school’s computer labs are full of computers that are older than my students.
Using technology in the classroom can prepare my students for a future deeply rooted in technology.
My students excel with the books, paper and pencils, but today's students need computer skills more than ever. My students have demonstrated an amazing ability to use Google Apps for Education as they have worked together on projects, websites and research. The more access they have, the more they amaze me!
My Project
Your contribution will have an immediate impact on my fourth graders. The Chromebooks will be used to help bring a blended learning environment to my students. They will use the computers to create as they build new websites, write documents and produce presentations. They will communicate with their classmates in writing classroom posts, sharing comments and making podcasts. Finally, my students will be able to collaborate with peers in their class, in their school, across the country and even around the world!
Our school's technology is not be updated fast enough to keep up with student needs and we have only one computer to share in the classroom.
Chromebooks in my classroom will bring more opportunity and engagement into the classroom! It will allow my students to refine and continue their technology skills!
