I teach energetic and curious high school students in a variety of life and earth science courses. They enjoy all types of hands-on labs, activities and investigations, especially those that allow us to collect real data in the field and community.
Students at our school are diverse, clever, cooperative individuals who are excited about science.
They come from a wide range of academic, socioeconomic, religious, and cultural backgrounds, creating a unique learning environment for all.
My Project
My students are twenty-first century learners, living in a world with real problems, like climate change, that need solving. However many of our lab materials are outdated and do not reflect the current need for innovation and creativity.
With these climate-focused lab activities, students will investigate climate change and human impact on the environment using data analysis, problem-solving, and engineering solution strategies that they will need to be successful in the real world and beyond.
Because most students learn best in a hands on or visual context, these labs and activities will help emphasize for students what the carbon cycle is, how it relates to climate change, and sustainable practices that can be used to mitigate the current climate crisis.
