This year my classroom is a gifted education classroom with students who are learning at an accelerated pace and continuously display a high level of inquiry and problem-solving skills. Although the classroom is a gifted classroom, I have students with many different educational needs that need to be met and with many different learning styles! The diversity is vast and I would like to have many tools in my classroom to cater to each individual child. Lastly, our school is an International Baccalaureate school. Therefore I am continuously reinforcing internationally-minded attitudes and behaviors.
As part of a International Baccalaureate and STEAM school our students must work collaboratively to create projects for our thematic units and plan and present information. The Cricut not only helps the students design and create their own projects, but it also infuses an important technology component into each activity. These materials will allow students to work collaboratively in their summative projects for IB and will help the students engage in the design process. Adding this type of technology into the classroom will help inspire the students to learn and engage themselves into project based learning with technology. The software that comes with the cricut is very user friendly for children, and can be used from the classroom iPads.
