My classroom has always been a safe place for learning and developing academic, social, and emotional skills. My students haven't had a normal school year for the past three years. I have more English language learning students now than I had in the past. Students come to school with more stressors than ever, and time and resources are needed to assist them with needs.
My students are kind, creative, curious, and ready to collaborate in the process of learning.
I believe this project will help me to unite my students in project-based learning to share ideas and approaches to challenges they are given. I know that my EL students will benefit from collaborating with English-speaking peers as academic language is shared over these projects and challenges.
My Project
Our students have had a difficult time with all of the changes in education these past few years. As students are attending in person and occasionally in a virtual setting, the 3D printer will allow students to problem-solve with real world challenges. They will be able to focus on being kids and enjoying the academic engagement the planning process will provide them.
These challenges will help students remember to be curious and creative in their approach to life's problems.
I want my students to enjoy learning and to become lifetime learners. I also want my students to gain 21st century skills that they can bring into the workforce once they have completed their academic careers. I am excited to see their reactions to thoughts and ideas becoming a 3-dimensional reality!
