My students walk into the art room each week full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. The first thing they ask is, "What are we making today?" Their excitement makes me want to provide them with awesome art projects that they will love to create and be proud to share.
I teach at a Title I school where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and lunch and our resources are limited.
Some of my students receive backpack food on the weekend, and many are refugees from other countries. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. For too many of my students, the art room is the only place they feel successful. I want to give them amazing opportunities that will help them see that learning can be fun!
My Project
My students are very creative and I love to give them opportunities to showcase their artistic abilities. Adding a button maker with supplies to our Maker Space options would be an amazing tool to use with my students.
Students take so much pride in sharing their work with others and designing buttons they can make is a perfect way for them to do this.
I would love to have my students of all ages design their buttons, create them, and be able to wear them to show off their creations. Other opportunities for the design and create aspect of this venture would be to make buttons to promote school events, personalize gifts for their family, and for their own enjoyment.
