Help me give my students the opportunity to advance their creative skills in architecture. Utilizing LEGO blocks enables students to work cooperatively to build, plan and focus on building and construction in a hands-on creative approach.
Each year, we participate in the Alabama Institute of Architecture (AIA of Birmingham) contest with drawings of architectural designs that are judged and the winners displayed at the downtown AIA office. Building with Legos and other types of three dimensional tools and extensions provide the students the opportunity and the tools to work as teams to create designs that can assist in their final drawings. These types of interactive building exercises improve confidence and assist the students in working together to attain multiple outcomes.
Students at our elementary school are inquisitive and enjoy hands-on projects that encourage collaboration and creativity.
They will go the extra mile if working on projects that hold their interest and encourage creative outcomes.
My Project
We are requesting LEGO blocks which will enable students to work cooperatively to build, plan and focus on building and construction in a hands-on creative approach. With these resources students will complete projects for Visual Arts Classes.
Students will view Power Points on various styles and types of architecture through history to present.
Students will work together to create architectural designs. This year we are focusing on "Dream Schools" for the AIA architecture contest.
Students will utilize LEGO blocks to build their ideas before they draw them, enabling them to visualize, plan, and collaborate. Students will then draw their final plan to be entered into the contest as well as be on display at school.
LEGO blocks will also be utilized with students that have special needs. Working with the blocks can be easier for them to master and enhances their comprehension of objectives.
