Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are truly the best! They are elementary school-aged students who have big hearts! My students come from diverse cultural, academic, and family backgrounds. More than fifty percent of my students are Latinx, Black, and/or Native American, and more than fifty percent come from low-income households; yet, they have resilience, flexibility, and emotional strength! They also enjoy being creative and expressing themselves through creative crafts and art therapy.

My Project

My counseling students are managing many emotions while trying to remain focused on their academics and social functioning. Sometimes all they need is an opportunity to tap into their inner, creative strengths to help them calm down and remain in class, which is where they accomplish the most learning throughout the day.

I would like to have enough art therapy supplies that if a student needs to make a stress-ball, a coping spinner, or would like to express himself with paint brushes, that they will have all the necessary items to do so.
