My students need Osmo Coding to make music, solve challenging puzzles, and develops fine motor skills. The Monster Game allows students to create animated characters. The headphones will help while they record their masterpieces.
I teach at a Title I school. I have a wide range of students in my classroom. I have students who have special needs. I have seven ESL students and of the seven, two of them go home to a house where no English is spoken at all and they struggle continuously because their parents/grandparents can't read or speak English. I have students who are performing significantly below grade level because they were not exposed to reading, computers, tablets, and didn't have any previous educational experiences.
In addition to the struggling students, I have a group of students who ARE on grade level, who are energetic, and want to absorb as much new information as the can.
I also have three students who are identified as gifted and talented and are difficult to keep "challenged" when several of the students are still learning to identify letters and learning sounds.
My Project
Osmo is a fun program that allows kindergartners to use technology to create, problem solve, communicate, practice, and challenge themselves or partners. We currently use Osmo for letter practice, beginning sounds, and spelling and we use Osmo numbers for number recognition, addition and subtraction, and dissecting numbers. Students are engaged and realize that learning can be LOADS of fun.
The Monster Game by Osmo allows kids to bring their drawings to life.
Kids are encouraged to make up stories and characters.Their drawings are transformed into a magical world that can be shared with their friends and family.
The Coding Game allows students to make music with Jam. Students can go from beginner to advanced with even more hands-on fun!
Headphones are needed for sound reduction and recording.
