My students are unique learners who present on the autism spectrum. My class consists of all non-verbal students, making learning a lot less traditional. My students learn through a multi-sensory approach, and need hands on, sensory based activities.
"Fair isn't everybody getting the same thing.
Fair is everybody getting what they need in order to be successful. “. My students need sensory items in order for me to meet their learning needs. My students are kind, bright, and love to learn--however, without the proper materials, learning is more challenging than beneficial for them.
I truly believe that they are capable of so much, and with the right classroom and teaching, they will succeed far beyond imaginable!
My Project
These materials will allow my students to learn in a way that makes sense to them. Providing hands-on, tactile items will allow them to be engaged, creating a learning environment ideal for their needs.
Providing my students with hands on learning activates their brains, and allows them to physically touch the objects.
This is essential for them.
These materials will provide a classroom where my students feel safe and comfortable, which creates an environment where learning becomes fun and authentic.
Hands on learning is crucial for non-verbal students, as they learn by doing, not solely from watching.
