I am a second grade teacher in Nashua, NH in a very low income area. When it comes to school for many of my students the classroom is home for them. They feel safe and loved. Our classroom is a consistent routine that they can count on every day.
I have 24 diverse students who come from challenging home situations but come to school each day eager to learn and be the best they can be.
My favorite part of my job is every day seeing how happy my students are to be at school and learn and use different tools in their learning experience.
My Project
The things I am looking for will already have a use in our classroom. My students love learning and they love having hands on materials. When teaching second grade students, I like them to have a huge part in their learning. I want them to feel the whole lesson experience. I write on the easel examples of their lessons and I have them come up to have an interactive learning experience. This is during all subject blocks during the day. I love the use of the lap white boards as do the students. As soon as they know we are using the white boards as a whole group they are so excited for the lesson. In reading we us a lot of books that the children are familiar with I then display them after we read as a class. The students will have the opportunity to read them during independent reading block if desire. Lastly, the colored bins help the students to stay organized with their lessons and learning because I group them by color for learning rotations. This allows me to give students a more one on one learning time.
The students and myself would be so appreciative and grateful for these items and your support.
