Help me give my students the fine motor support that they need while learning the letters of the letters alphabet. The upper and lower case feel and write alphabet activities will be great to add to my toolbox.
I teach Pre-K and I absolutely LOVE it. Teaching 20 four to five year old children everyday is so fun because everyday is different. The students in my classroom come from a variety of socioeconomic backgrounds. Our school does have a 50% ratio of free and reduced meals. One of the reason why I love teaching this day is some days they come in as happy as can be and the next day they might be a little sad from having a rough morning at home. I love that I get to help teach them how to manage their many different feelings.
My classroom is set up so they are learning through their play.
When entering my classroom you will find the students engaged in hands-on activities that they are interested in. They get to be independent learners exploring projects that they want. For example in the science center they can explore with magnets, look at and read books about science, or draw a picture of what they made with the magnetic building blocks. We do a lot of science experiments because I love to see the element of surprise on their faces when they see the experiment play out.
As we are off to a great start this school year I have noticed how the fine motor skills of my students are really low. These hands on activities will be a great way for me to incorporate learning the letters of the alphabet along with building their fine motor skills.
Young children gain an awareness of letters as they play with Alphabet shapes.
There are so many activities that I can incorporate in my classroom with these new centers. I plan to incorporate these rocks in my sensory bin so I can send the children to hunt for them. The rubbing alphabet set is a great hands on activity that will build their fine motor skills as they rub a crayon over the letter to see how it is formed.
My goal as a teacher is to keep my students engaged and to make it fun. I think that these will really enhance my classroom and help my students reach the goals that they are trying to achieve.
