My students come from various socioeconomic backgrounds and ethnicities. Our school is considered a low-income school and our funding is very limited. We welcome all students to our fantastic school community and celebrate our diverse population. We have a transient population with many special needs and our staff works tirelessly to meet those needs. Even with these challenges and differences, our staff strives to provide engaging lessons to build excitement for learning in all academic areas. Our students desire a deeper and richer understanding of science and eager to learn!
My Project
All of the materials in this project including the playstix and building block sets will allow my students to take their learning to new levels. They will be able to become better problem solvers and thinkers by actually creating solutions with the kid k'nex and interlocking connectagons in this project. I am hoping to bring STEAM into full force with my second year in the STEAM Lab coming up! This wish can become more of reality as I am able to put more manipulatives in front of my students to help fuel their imaginations and bring their creations to life! Students in the classroom are often given challenges and then given building blocks and various playstixs to produce solutions to the challenges. Students will also be able to use the gears to build and understand how things work. By being able to provide various types of materials, students will really be able to think outside the box.
