My first-grade students are outgoing, enthusiastic, and extremely creative! They come from a variety of backgrounds including military families from the neighboring base, and one-third of our school's students come from low-income households. Our school has been directly impacted by hurricanes, and this past year we transitioned to remote learning along with most of our country. This year we are a hybrid classroom. One cohort is virtual only and we meet virtually two days a week and the other cohort comes to school two days a week for face to face instruction. The other three days they are learning remotely. We don't know for sure what the rest of this year may hold, but whether it's in person or virtual I know our students will continue to learn and soar!

My Project
Whether we're in class, working on our remote learning at home, or virtual only, our class is busy creating, learning, and exploring! To make this possible, we need some materials to help us. That's where this project comes into play.
Each week we select games to send home for students to play with their families to review and practice skills.
We are also creating new activities to do in class while we're still practicing social distancing. We have lots of great ideas, but making them durable, colorful, and reusable has been a challenge. We've tried putting them in page protectors, but they're not sturdy enough. We really need to put them on card stock and then place them in sheet protectors for their remote learning folder or laminate them for use in class. Plus adding color would make them that much more appealing. This project would provide the materials for us to create these for our class to enjoy!
