I have 17 very active and eager kiddos in my class. Their energy and excitability loves to show through in all that they do. My students love to create, draw, and express themselves through art. We have the basics: crayons, markers, glue, paper, pens & pencils, etc. They show such pride in their creations; our walls and flat surfaces are covered in their art.
Allowing students to explore the creative and visual arts transcends development in all areas of learning.
My students come from diverse backgrounds, but there is one thread of commonality. All my students come from poverty level homes. They love coming in to school every day to learn, play and explore in the special place we call our classroom. We become a family in the 10 months we are together.
My Project
Creating artwork covers a myriad of developmental areas. It is vital that students learn to express themselves, and the arts are a wonderful way for them to do so. Hands on learning provides students ways to learn using all their senses and makes learning fun and meaningful.
Drawing, cutting, gluing, painting, and creating visual artwork allows students freedom.
The Easy-Punch Alphabet tools will not only be helpful in creating artwork, but students can also use them to learn letter and add to their journals in the writing center. The 3-D collage box will provide new and different materials that are not usually available for the students to use and create with in the home environment. Both the collage trays and craft trays will allow the students to use any craft and art material in an organized way and help them to see what is available. They will be able to plan and problem solve while creating their visions.
Being able to show your thoughts and feelings, displaying imagination and exploring grows confidence and builds problem solving and critical thinking skills. It also helps develop fine motor skills in a fun way. All the we do prepares my students for future success in Kindergarten and beyond.
