My students need a Creation Station with perler beads, Strictly Briks, craft sticks, pipe cleaners, pompoms, and cardstock to give them a world of possibilities! We also need a camera to document their learning.
My ICT Kindergarten consists of general education, special needs, and English Language Learners students. We are a Title 1 School meaning a large percentage of students are from low-income families. They have very limited resources and rely almost solely on our school to provide enriching experiences.
My creation station will not only spark the imagination of my students, but it will also provide a safe place for them to explore and make discoveries.
At the creation station, they will think, play, collaborate, make, and share. They will achieve by doing and begin to develop the necessary skills in the lifelong process of learning! By supporting my project, you will truly make a difference in the lives of my students by giving them an experiential approach to learning!
My Project
This creation station project has a variety of materials for students to explore. It is a colorful rolling storage cart packed with resources. I chose materials such as perler beads, Strictly Briks, craft sticks, buttons, pipe cleaners, pompoms, wiggly eyes, cardstock, and duct tape to inspire creativity and imagination. These materials are colorful, fun, and simple to work with in addition to being relatively inexpensive.
Full STEAM ahead: this cart and its contents will motivate students to play, make, and share.
Teachers and students will use the digital camera to document their learning and share their projects. Students will learn how everyday objects can be transformed by using imagination and technology! My creation station’s purpose is to inspire curiosity and encourage tinkering. I hope it will have a lifelong impact on my little makers!
