Stripping wires with metal cutters is difficult for many middle school students, but when this challenge is solved with a precision wire stripper tool students are more engaged.
I have 110 engineering students who have not had a lot of hands on experience building things.
They have had many art and music classes, but now they are ready to Make! It is important to have tools that students can use quickly to make their designs.
My Project
Students will use the wire strippers to prepare their wires to connect lights. Students will be able to build quick circuits when they have the right tool in their hands. The box cutters allow students to make a quick mock up of their design before they try to make a larger version. My students need wire strippers, electric cutters, PLA, and drill bit tips for their classroom projects.
When students are given a chance to build projects with their hands their minds open up to all the possibilities to solve problems.
Engineering needs to begin by using our hands to construct.
